LOCAL EVENTS

As an avid event enthusiast I try to commit to attending as many as possible. This week I had the pleasure of attending the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and the Kick-off Party for the Columbia Valley Relay for Life held at Copper Point Golf Club.

Both were greatly visioned and executed events that I had a blast taking in!!

I hope that as a community we continue to support each cause, each venue and each other. Start committing to these events in advance, you will be glad you attended and organizers will thank you for not leaving your decision to the last minute =)

BALLFEST DATE CHANGE: JULY 23-25

Upon learning of a few minor conflicts with the weekend chosen for BALLFEST, we have decided to bump it up to the weekend of July 23-25.

PLEASE RE-MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!

BALLFEST 2010 will be taking place JULY 23-25 at the Crossroads Ball Diamonds on Highway 93/95 at Invermere, BC. We are looking forward to bringing out more teams this year and hosting a fun weekend of ball.

Building on the successes and feedback of past years we will be making a few changes and additions to the weekend. Instead of an outdoor stage, we will have a DJ providing music at the diamonds and have a Saturday Night Cabaret at the neighboring Lions Hall with live music from Calgary band SATORI LIFE. There will also be cheap drinks, party games and a silent auction to raise money for some fix-ups around the diamonds, so that each year we can build a bigger and better BALLFEST!!

We will again have a beer garden and food concession at the diamonds throughout the weekend and organize some fun things for the kids too! There will be a Saturday afternoon home run derby and of course cash and prizes for top teams.

New this year is the Bocce Ball Tourney. Teams of 4 will compete for cash in this ’side bet’ tournament that will run in conjunction with slo-pitch games throughout the weekend. $40/team. Indicate interest on your registration form and we will be sending out separate Bocce signup sheets later
