On day 5 my jersey had to be left at home to soak in Oxy-Clean while we went down to Granville Island to check out a few of the pavilions and grab a bite to eat. As a result, so too did the camera get left behind. It was a beautifully sunny day and, although we were a little tired from the late night before, or spirits were high! Shannon had to leave but, Adam and I geared up for another exiting night of Olympic hockey and the match up between the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It was a great game and neat experience to watch these 2 countries (formerly 1) battle it out with a ton of crowd backing for both sides. The Czechs ended up beating the Slovakians 3-1, but no questions the Slovaks were ready to play the heartfelt tournament of their lives.
Day 6 came with much sadness, as I knew I was to be leaving that afternoon. As we headed downtown to check out the Irish House and a few other attractions before I left, I realized how much I didn’t want to go home. Having not carefully planned my flight however, I was rather distraught over the fact that I would be in the air during the Canada-Swedan hockey game. Since that didn’t really seem smart, I spent a couple hours on the phone with Air Canada trying to figure out I could delay flying home. Not having any of my flight information in front of me made this rather challenging and I opted to give up on it and just enjoy my last couple hours in Vancouver amongst the party. I was definitely pouting for the rest of the day, but made it home safely and very happy to have had the Olympic experience I did!!
