Pretty crazy to think that I have not made a post since BALLFEST this past summer. A little fall hiadis puts us right in to the holiday season!!

BALLFEST - 1 month away

With one month left before the 4th Annual BALLFEST, things are looking awesome!!!
We are already at 14 teams. whoot whoot!!!
Returning teams include last years winners the F’N DONKEYS and runners up FAT BOYZ. We also have BALLFEST veterans like PITCH BLEASE, EASY LAYS, and the GIANTS and old teams with new names such as SMOKIN BATS and FREELANCE CONFUSION. Teams returning for their 2nd year include 18 BALLS & FIVE MITTS, SOP, and the REDNECK MOTHERS.

The 4th Annual BALLFEST SLo-Pitch Tournament is set to take place July 15-17, 2011. This is a super fun tournament and a great weekend for all!!
Building on the successes of past years we will continue on in much the same fashion and hope that we will see 20 teams participating this year. We will also be adding Friday Night Games and a welcome dinner to the Friday Night Cabaret Party.

Ron Johnston Memorial Tournament

The date and course has been set and the inaugural year of this memorial tournament for my dad is going to be something special. I am very excited to get the ball rolling on have great visions of what a tournament like this can become. Growing it into a large scale fundraising event for charities that my dad valued is a defined goal, however it is ultimately just about getting together and having fun.
I can;t think of any better way to honor my dad, who loved to golf!!!

A few days away from the office

Over the past couple years I have not gotten out on my snowboard as much as I would like. So with Spring in the air I find myself doing a little ‘cramming’…
I was very excited to have lined up a gig with Snow Challenge Canada (www.snowchallengecanada.com) to drive their group of training instructors and patrollers to a nearby mountain once a week for the first few weeks of March. I enjoyed riding Kicking Horse for the 1st time on March 1st and again for the 2nd time two weeks later. Heading South to Kimberley in between was a nice change up that was made awesome by fresh snow.
With the legs feeling good it came time for the Annual Trip to Nelson & Rossland….amazing!!! Driving up the hill to Whitewater on Saturday and seeing a new chairlift surrounded by nice fresh lines and plenty of untracked powder got the heart pumping…and it stayed pumping all afternoon as we adventured our way through powder run after powder run. We had so much fun we decided to alter our plans to head to Rossland the next morning and stayed for another day at White. Bluebird skies in the morning told us we had made a good decision and it definitely proved to be another amazing day. We ripped over to Rossland at the end of the day and settled in for a restful evening before our last day of the trip riding Red.
Red has become one of my all-time favorite mountains and I was excited to make the most out of the day, but when we woke up to rain we opted to take a little mroe time getting up to the hill. A decision that was soon to be dwelled on (briefly) as we made our way to the top of the Motherlode to find a winter wonderland of fresh lines. I love Red!!! It always seems like such a rewarding adventure when you are treking through the glades and just when you think you’ve gotten in a little over your head, it opens up to a pillowy playground of awesome!!
Ugh, so here we are riding the best snow, it’s still puking, and we only have a couple hours left. What can be done? Well, obviously you bring all your stuff back to the hotel you already checked out of and ask for your room back so you can stay an extra day. Well worth it!!! I love Red! Only problem was that after another day riding amazing powder in snowy conditions…and staying yet another extra night…we woke up to blue bird skies luring us to stay another day. Alas, the responsible decision to get back was debated and may be the source of some mixed feelings, but the truth is it was an epic 4 days and a nice, sunny drive home!!
Same places, same time-ish next year for sure!!!
Cramming is fun, but it does leave me wishing I had rode more this year. It was a season of epic snowfalls and it’s drawing to a close…..just as I’m getting in to it!!

My site is out-of-date!!
I assure anyone who is checking in that I am still kicking!! Been extremely busy behind the scenes and excited to get rolling with a few new things.
Quick update:
Fundamental is pursuing an application for a Special Authorization Transportation license which would allow us to offer a broader range of services with a broader range of vehicles. For example a limo, or mini van. The goal is to help offer greater transportation options in the Valley and amplify the activity of the Fun Van.
So, if you are in favor of such things I ask that you consider voicing your support in a letter, which will be included in my application. OR, check back shortly as I will have an online survey to gather public input to help establish the best plan of attack.
Thought of my day:
Finding a good balance is hard, but it’s silly to think that life need not excite you….and who doesn’t get excited about the prospect of good fun times? So part of good balance is good fun… and Fundamental puts FUN first!!!
So, if you are looking for balance, look no further. We have fun waiting for you in all sorts of custom shapes and sizes!!!

The FUN VAN will be on the road more regularly offering public shuttle transportation throughout the Valley on Thursday, Friday & Saturday Nights!
Fundamental will be teaming with bars, restaurants and accommodators to offer a transportation service running on a per person fare in time for the Holiday Season.
*please note that Fundamental is also booked for private functions throughout the year that would take precedent over the open shuttle.
Holiday Season Party Time!
‘Tis the season to get together and party. We are all becoming more aware of the newly lowered drinking and driving limits and its safe to say it’s not worth it to drink and drive….at all!
One drink could have you losing your license and vehicle for 3 days and with the upwards of $800 in related fines…it’s even more than a slight inconvenience.
SO…be smart…and safe…book the FUN VAN for your Christmas party, group function or night on the town!!
Private bookings will take precedent over public shuttles, so please consider making pre-made arrangements before assuming you will be able to figure it out at the end of the night.
